When I first started my work experience week at Brew Digital, I was really nervous about talking to the digital marketing team, joining in on meetings, and tackling tasks that were all out of my comfort zone. However, my expectations were proven wrong.
I spent my week chatting to most of the team, asking questions, and completing tasks based on what they do for Adaptavist and their other clients. I got to dip my toes into all areas of the team such as social media, paid media, and even SEO. Some of these areas I had no knowledge of before I started at the company, but they all turned out to be so interesting in their own way!
The whole team is amazing at their jobs and lovely to work with. During my week, I was assigned a mentor, Freya, to help me out if I ran into any problems. Freya was the best mentor I could have asked for! She was always checking in on me to make sure I was on track. As I was working from home from 9 till 5, it was really important to keep myself busy and productive. I had a timetable that I followed so I knew when all my meetings were, when to take lunch, and when my deadlines were.
The skills I gained from it
There are so many skills I gained from this work experience, some I never thought I would need! I gained skills such as editing, email analysis, and social media management. As well as these, I learned to work with new people, and gained more confidence in a working environment. Although the meetings were intimidating at first, they turned out to be so useful! This work experience has really shown me that working in a team can be effective and enjoyable.
My favourite parts
My favourite parts of this week were working on all of the different projects. This allowed me to broaden my knowledge in the media industry which I hope to use in the future. I particularly enjoyed the social media research where I helped the head of social media find new ways to promote themselves online! Using my insights as a Gen-Z, I was able to help them broaden their knowledge with different platforms online they could use. Another part of this week I enjoyed were the team calls! Everyone gets on so well and loves to have a laugh on a morning call. These calls allowed the team to catch up with everyone and check on how they are doing with their work. I loved joining these calls as it allowed me to start my work day on a positive and productive note.
Overall, I really enjoyed my work experience. I learned so much from the company and got to see how amazing it actually is. It has allowed me to gain more knowledge in digital marketing and what I want to do in the future.
